Life is dynamic. It evolves and mutates, never sits still for it will perish. Sometimes it moves in a straight line and others in circles but it keeps going. Monica Carbonell evolves andmutates too. She goes into flowers and figures, transparencies and vivid colors but her art evolves, gyrates and grows. She works the canvas with both soft, meticulous but also brave and bold brushstrokes. Her hand only creates and never repeats for that would be a sacrilege. All her works hide somethingto the naked eyes but they open a mysterious world to the keen observer. Life itself unravels and plays in careful gaze of the onlooker. she paints like a masterful writers tells a story, everything is to be found between thelines, in her case between colors, shapes, and brushstrokes, so that her work is a whole and not a part. Monica Carbonel uses myriad metaphors dressed as Mother Earth or the Feminine Spirit, sometimes she’s a flower or a building and yet she brings forth the intangible that unite usall. To stand in front of her work is to find oneself naked in communion with Life itself.
